You are viewing a 1954 Mk 2E Martin Baker Ejector Seat, as fitted in the past to the RAF’s Gloster Meteors and the forerunner to the current Mk 10 seat in operation with the RAF today.

The seat is an ideal restoration project, or interesting artefact as-is. It is missing a number of components including the straps / belts, seat pads, drogue chute, firing handles and seat backing. It is otherwise complete and original and includes the launch rail, cockpit mounting plate, feet stirrups, arming pin and the other components you would expect.

I had originally procured this as a piece of interesting aeronautica to restore myself, though unfortunately no longer have the time or the space. I would prefer it to go to someone who has.

The seat carries the following information on a plate which would seem to indicate it is a very early model:

  • Assy serial No:   61108
  • AM REF: 271/50004
  • MK2E
  • Issue 8
  • Drawing: M8EU-3330
  • Date: 13.2.54
  • Serial No: 1271

style="font-size: small;">I have included a picture of a similar seat in an operational state for reference.

Unfortunately due to its size and weight, this item is for the winner to pick up only. To give you an idea of what you need to transport it, when I bought this, I was able to fit it in a small car with the back and front passenger seats folded down.

Grab your self a piece of aeronautical history!
