You are viewing a section of a Jumo 211 engine, a sizeable crash relic from the Battle of Britain.

This section was recovered from the North Sea bed by a trawler operating out of Whitby in the early 1980’s. The section became caught in the trawlers nets and was brought ashore. It was given to my father by the skipper and has passed into my possession.

The Jumo 211 was Junkers primary engine of WW2 and was used in bombers such as the Junkers 88 and 87. It is an inverted V-12. I have included a picture of a complete engine for reference with the section for sale here marked with a red border.

During WW2 the North East of England and shipping was attacked frequently by the Luftwaffe over a long, sustained period by aircraft operating out of Norway and Northern Europe. There were many losses, this wreckage is testament to this. I have unfortunately not been able to discover anything about the identity of the aircraft.

The section comprises three engine cylinders and the alloy casing with traces of black paint, and plenty of traces of sealife.

As time goes on and wreckage deteriorates, relics of this size and quality become harder to find – eventually they will disappear either by corroding away or into collections.

Shipping can be arranged by courier at cost, or if you would prefer it can be picked up. Thanks for looking, please ask any questions before bidding. Please view the pictures closely, bought as seen and as I am a private seller, no returns.
