You are viewing an original Luftwaffe M1940 stahlhelm, a collectable relic from WW2, and one of the nicest original helmets we have seen.

This relic was acquired with other WW2 pieces during a house clearance. It was found in the attic and is presented in completely as-found condition, including the bird droppings!

The helmet carries a single original Luftwaffe decal which is largely complete.

Marked on the inside, left rim of the steel dome is the factory abbreviation and size‘ET68’. This denotes the factory was Eisenhuttenwerke, Thale. The rear rim of the helmet is marked with the numeric factory production code 4860.

The liner system is the M1931 and size markings of 61 are visible on the leather. All nine leather fingers are present, each with five ventilation holes and there is plenty of wear. One finger is missing its tip. The leather has no smell, and is quite rigid with age. The liner appears tightly secured with three retaining rivets. Maker marks are not clear without pulling out the liner, but they are just visible.

The chinstrap is a British Tommie helmet strap of the period, a strong indication this was a bring-back trophy.

The helmet displays plenty of wear and some rust, although the rust now looks inert.

I am happy to ship internationally, recorded delivery. Please ask any questions before bidding. Please view the pictures closely – bought as seen. Please note the stand is not included in the sale. Finally please note any bidder agrees to use this helmet for historical reasons only and not for propaganda purposes.

Thanks for looking, grab yourself a very collectable and very unusual WW II relic.
