POLISH ARMED FORCES WW II IN THE WEST:
VINTAGE RARE GARRATT EAGLE BADGE

This rare Polish Armed Forces eagle badge, one of the few surviving unused specimens,  was produced and issued to the volunteers by the Polish Army Recruiting Mission in Canada 1940-1943.  Based on the pre-war design, it has been crafted in limited numbers by the G.
J. Garratt company of Toronto, Ontario.  It has a pristine, oxidized, iridescent finish, following the original Polish “rogatywka” hat badge, produced between 1935 and 1939.

The reverse has a two prong attachment (lugs), rather than the original screw-on prototype of the pre-war design.  These badges were issued to over 700 volunteers recruited and trained by the Polish Military Mission in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.  When, after Pearl Harbor,  enlistments had proved smaller than anticipated, the Mission was closed.

The badge is unused, never worn,  but, obviously, shows patina of some 70 years.  We are informed that this relic is considered a seldom seen variant of the pre-war wz.39 Polish hat eagle.  It is one of the most  sought after types, seldom appearing on the market.
Please look carefully at the images of the eagle and judge for yourself.  It was preserved all these years by the same family since 1943.
