GERMAN SS OBERSCHUTZE RANK PIP IN BLACK CLOTH – REPRODUCTION
Description
This round insignia was worn by members of the SS who reached the rank of Oberschutze, which took a minimum of 6 months service in the field or replacement army. It consisted of a silver-gray pip embroidered on a black wool base. This rank was worn on the upper left sleeve just below the national emblem on the black wrap-around, service tunic, service dress tunic and greatcoat. Introduced for wear around March 1938.
