Description
This is the version of the wound badge that was presented to the wounded German Volunteers of the Legion of condor – the German Forces that participated in the Spanish Civil War ( 1936- 1939) on the side of General Franco.
The badge was based on the WW1 Wound badge of the Imperial Army, with the addition of the Swastika.
It was presented regardless of the branch of the recipient (same badge for the Army (Wehrmacht), the Navy (Kriegsmarine ) and the Air Force (Luftwaffe).
This version of the badge with solid reverse continued to be used until 1940 when it was replaced by the common WW2 Version.
Magnetic – iron made and extremely scarce.
