Description

WHW Winterhilfswerk Reichsstrassensammlung / Winter Relief national leather rune pin. constructed out of a die pressed leather base pin depicting a german rune. The Rune on the pin is a Wolfsangel rune.

 Back of the pin faintly reads WHW 1935/36.

The WHW, “Winterhilfswerk” (Winter-help-work), was an annual charitable donation event held by the “NS-Volkswohlfahrt” (National Socialist – Peoples’-welfare) in which personnel from all of the NSDAP organizations would solicit donations from the public, and reward contributors with a wide variety of lapel badges or propaganda booklets

The organization would go door to door selling these pins for one or two pfennig.
