Wounded Stripe is complete with correct backing plate and cotter pin. The back plate is marked “UNTARNISHABLE-STRIPE-CHEMICALLY TREATED” The Wound Stripe itself is marked “LAMBOURNE’S BIRMINGHAM”. British personnel wounded during The Great War had each wound recognized by the award of a 2″ long brass stripe, which was worn vertically on the left cuff of the tunic.
This wound stripe is considered equivalent in status to other international wound awards, for example, the American Purple Heart, the French Wound Medal, etc
