GERMAN DEFENSE WEST WALL MEDAL IN ITS ORIGINAL PACKET OF ISSUE

Description

German west wall medal and package (Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen).  It is a oval bronze medal on a suspension loop with its period original ribbon.

The front shows a crossed shovel and sword in the centre and a concrete pillbox bunker directly below, also a German national eagle above, all within an oak leaf wreath.

On the back of the medal it is inscribed “Für Arbeit zum schutze Deutschlands” (For labour for the protection of Germany) within an oak wreath. The medal is 45.46 mm x 32.86 mm and  weighs 17.4 grams.

This West Wall medal comes with its original packet of issue.

The packet has on the front “Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen” (German Westwall Decoration).

The maker mark is printed in black gothic lettering on the back:  Sohni. Heubach & Co

The bag measures 105 mm x 60 mm.

Over all excellent condition.
