This patch was worn by the American 101st airborne. It is the one-piece version with tab sewn to the badge.
Combat Service Identification Badge.
The 101st was also known as the screaming eagles as their mascot was the Bald Eagle. The Screaming Eagles were a light infantry division that specialized in air assault. During WWII the 101st battled in Normandy leading the way on D-Day with their pre-landing drops. Also during Operations Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge and Alsace. In later years they fought in many wars from the Korean to Vietnam and the Desert Wars.
